In August 2023, when I first began my journey of studying abroad, it started with a simple search for science related programs. At the time I had just finished an eight week internship in a laboratory and was at the beginning of my junior year of college, looking for ways to continue advancing my experiences outside of the classroom. I knew I wanted to continue on my path of science and medicine being a Biomedical Science major but I was not sure what opportunities were waiting for me. When I found the program "USA British Contributions to Science and Medicine" I knew whether the title was fate or a coincidence, I couldn't let this opportunity slip by.

Suddenly, my alarm jolts me awake. I glance at the time—9:05 AM! You would think after three weeks here, I would be used to this routine of going into the office at 9:30, especially in such an exciting city. I guess old habits do die hard. I rush to make my bed—a new habit since arriving at my homestay—and check the weather from my balcony. I decide on an outfit, mindful that the office can be chilly due to the lack of heating, a common trait shared among offices in Spain.

I have always wanted to travel the world, whether that be for pleasure or work. But, I never thought that I could do it for school. In spring of 2024, I went to the study abroad fair to look for a program that could give me credits and a great experience out of the country. While I picked up many papers for programs, none of them were a direct hit for my major and that was something I was looking for.
